Walking with You

Today is a good day. Had a nice time finding out the juicy secrets of the members in my Form 4 youth class at church. Some of the guys have been into the girls' toilet. One guy had his toenails painted. Some of them have played in the ochestra. (Thankfully the girls seem pretty sane!) Hahaha. So it was a good day. Welcome on board Sarah and Becky!

God gives good gifts. And the gift I'm thanking God for here is the gift of youth. It's in this time of life we discover and dare to be who we are. We begin to form our lenses through which we view the world, view ourselves and understand God. 'In your youthfulness, don't forget your creator...' the Teacher writes in the book of Ecclesiastes. Each of us will have to give an account to God someday about how we managed our youth (and basically all of our lives).

It's in our youth that we challenge ourselves academically - striving to make the best out of our Add Maths tuition while keeping awake. It's here that we give our hearts away in short-term crushes and realise sooner or later that we aren't ready for marriage. It's here that we build relationships that will anchor our social lives in the coming years of adulthood. It's during this time we begin to stretch our wings of independence and attempt to fly in the heights of uncertainty.

It's also during this time that we will make mistakes and will have to decide if we're going to learn from it or be governed by the dissapointment of failing.

And I'm glad to intersect with the paths of this bunch of young people and journey with them on this road of discovery and adventure in their spiritual walk.

Wow. So deep man.

The best gift to our children is 'the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence'.
