Needing Alms

Do I need to drive a fancy car,
Travel the world or reach the stars,
Do I have to own businesses and shares,
Offer credits cards to show I really care.

Everywhere around us someone dies
Somebody hurts, somebody cries
Some lose tempers, some, loved ones
I lose everything and am needing alms

Will there be any peace and reconciliation,
between the hurting and the whole,
the poor and rich, the young and the old

I ponder in reflection, as I'm hit with many qualms
Through prayers and contemplation, I learn to give
My Alms
